BAFTA-winning actress Olivia Colman is best known for her role as ‘DS Ellie Miller’ in ITV’s crime drama BROADCHURCH. She is currently filming the third and final season alongside David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker and Arthur Darvill, with a TX date TBC. She will next star in the Channel 4 adaptation of Michael Rosen’s classic children’s book WE’RE GOING ON A BEAR HUNT, scheduled for release Christmas 2016.
Earlier this year Olivia portrayed ‘Angela Burr’ in BBC/AMC’s television adaptation of John Le Carré’s detective novel, THE NIGHT MANAGER opposite Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston. For her performance as the resolutely honest government agent, Olivia was nominated for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie’ for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards.
Most recently she starred as ‘Deborah Flowers’ in Channel 4’s dark comedy series FLOWERS, and in Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s highly popular BBC3 series FLEABAG as the passive-aggressive ‘Godmother’. It has been announced that Olivia will take the lead as ‘Queen Anne’ opposite Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz in Yorgos Lanthimos’ THE FAVOURITE, for which filming will commence next year, and will also feature as ‘Strawberry’ in the television miniseries WATERSHIP DOWN with an all-star cast including Gemma Arterton, John Boyega, Freddie Fox, Nicholas Hoult, Ben Kingsley and James McAvoy.
In film, Olivia has starred in dystopian romantic comedy (and winner of the Cannes Jury Prize) THE LOBSTER, for which she also won her third British Independent Film Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress; mystery thriller feature film LONDON ROAD; and BAFTA-winning TYRANNOSAUR, for which she won a World Cinema Special Jury Prize for breakout performance at Sundance as well as Best Actress awards at the British International Film Awards and Evening Standard British Film Awards. She has also taken leading roles in THE IRON LADY; LOCKE; CUBAN FURY; and HOT FUZZ.
