Submissions are now closed for the 22nd Raindance Film Festival taking place in London between September 24th- October 5th 2014.
The Raindance Film Festival aims to show the very best in new independent cinema from around the world and specialises in first-time directors and discovery. The Festival accepts films of all lengths and genres and is committed to showing the boldest and most innovative work, and films that challenge the boundaries of filmmaking. Feature films need to be UK Premieres, there is no Premiere Policy for Short films and Music Videos. Please find detailed information about the submissions below. The Raindance Film Festival accepts films of all lengths and any genres if following categories:
Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, Animation Feature (all over 45 minutes, including credits)
Narrative Short, Documentary Short, Animation Short (all under 45 minutes, including credits)
Music Videos (under 6 minutes, including credits)

Submission eligibility and format
– All submissions must have been completed after 1 January 2013.
– Raindance requires at least a UK premiere for any feature film
– There is no Premiere policy for short films and music videos
– Works-in-progress are accepted
Films must be submitted on TWO (!) DVDs or online thorugh Withoutabox. The tracking number, film title, film category and running time MUST be clearly labelled on the DVDs. Please avoid stickers on the cover. Submitted copies will not be returned.

All shipping and postage costs for the submission package and, if the film is selected for the Festival, for all prints, tapes and additional materials sent to and returned from Raindance must be borne by the submitting party. Raindance will not accept Cash On Delivery shipments. Raindance will not absorb any fees incurred in British customs. All charges must be pre-paid. Raindance will not accept submissions if customs and delivery fees have not been paid by the submitting party.
Submission packages from outside the UK must be labelled ‘Trade Sample’ on any customs label and, for customs purposes, must be given a value of no more than US$10.
Submissions are reviewed and selected under the following criteria:
– Quality of narrative and production values
– Independent nature of the production
Raindance endeavours to complete all selection procedures on 31 August 2014 and inform all submitting parties, in writing, if their film has been successful or not after that time. Successful submissions will receive a Filmmaker Festival Pack that will include important information on shipping the DCP/DVD/BluRay to the Festival, press and publicity, guest accreditation, contact information and how to make the most of participating in the Festival.
A selected DCP/DVD/BluRay must be received at Raindance no later than TWENTY days prior to its scheduled screening date. The 22nd Raindance Film Festival will take place between September 24th – October 5th 2014.
Raindance will only screen Digital Cinema Package (DCP), DVD and Blu-Ray will be used as back-up. Please clearly label whether your film is PAL or NTSC. Our facilities do NOT support 35mm, Super 16mm or double-head formats.
Our partner cinema uses pin sharp Sony 4K Digital Cinema projection, making DCP screenings look incredible.
Raindance aspires to provide the best quality projection possible but will not be held liable for any failure in the technical quality of the projection, nor will fees be refunded in any such case. Raindance assumes that the submitting party or filmmaker(s) or entrant(s) or print source company has insured for damage and loss of the festival print or tape.
Screenings are scheduled during the Festival at the discretion of Raindance. Whilst every effort will be made to adhere to the published schedule, Raindance reserves the right to make changes at any time for any reason. Raindance will not be liable for any costs claimed as a result of a change in scheduling. Raindance also runs daily industry screenings with limited availability during the Festival.
No film may be withdrawn from the festival programme after its selection, and no film may be screened outside the festival venue during the Festival and before its official presentation without the approval of Raindance.
Festival Jury Prizes
Jury prizes for Feature Films: Best UK, Best International, Best Documentary, Best Debut, Feature Film of the Festival.
Jury prizes for Short Films: Best UK, Best International, Best Documentary, Best Animation, Short Film of the Festival are presented at the Festival.
If shortlisted for a Jury Prize, additional preview copies of the film must be provided or authorised by the submitting party if requested by Raindance.
